Dear Fellow Bearspawians,

Happy New Year to you and your families. As members of the Bearspaw Community, chances are you or a family member may have been registered in a program, attended an event, shopped at the Christmas Market or perhaps sent your child to his/her first educational class to the Bearspaw Preschool at the Bearspaw Lifestyle Centre.  As a non-profit organization responsible for the maintenance and operation of the BLC, the Bearspaw Glendale Community Association is responsible for securing funds from various avenues. One of our largest sources of income comes providing staffing to Casinos. For example, our last Casino held in September of 2013 yielded just over $67,000.

Our next Casino, to be held at the Cowboys Casino on February 4th and 5th is fast approaching and we are in need of volunteers to fulfill our staffing obligation.

The Casino schedule has been broken in to four shifts and we are currently in need of filling the following positions: 2 Chiprunners from 9:15 pm to 3:30 am on Thursday, February 4th. This position entails collecting chips from gaming tables and delivering them back to the cash cage. As a Chiprunner, you can bring a book, watch the TV provided for you, play a game, converse with your fellow Chiprunner until you receive a call from the cash cage, directing you which table needs to be visited in order to collect the chips. This can be a fun evening to catch up with a friend.

The Countroom is an action packed experience where volunteers count the money earned from a day and night of gaming.  In the Countroom, we currently have 2 vacancies in our Thursday night schedule from 10:45 pm to 3:30 am and the entire block of 7 positions available the next night, Friday February, 5th available. The Countroom is an area that many returning volunteers ask for as it provides the most constant activity and seems to pass very quickly. If you have a group of friends or are part of an organization that utilizes the BLC, this would be a fun way to spend some time together, while giving back to your community.

Please contact, Natasha Richardson, Casino Chair, at or by phoning or texting 403-660-4026 if you are able to help us out. For more information on the Casino and positions stated please visit, .

Thank you very much in advance for considering donating your time to your community.
